In recent years, the Like a Dragon game series has gained significant momentum, and with its colorful characters and setting, a live-action adaptation was only a matter of time. The new series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 25, and in the meantime, the platform, in collaboration with SEGA, has released a brand-new trailer.

Not everyone may remember, but this isn’t the first adaptation from the Like a Dragon series. Back in 2007, a full-length movie was released in Japan, though its IMDb rating sits at a modest 6 out of 10. Judging from the trailer and the subtle details, the new series seems to have far more potential.

Fans in the comments are concerned about the fact that the creators are not aiming for a direct adaptation of the game. Instead, the show will feature an original storyline and, apparently, its own distinct atmosphere. However, this could turn out to be a plus if the series manages to offer something fresh and interesting.

The show will be released in two parts: the first three episodes will be available on October 25, with the second half set to release starting November 1.
