BioWare studio head Gary McKay announced internal changes. The restructuring comes just months after Dragon Age: The Veilguard was launched. The game greatly underperformed, as EA top management expected twice more players. Such is a harsh reality of the current gaming industry, but unfortunately, these are the current rules.

Some employees have been reassigned to work on projects under other EA divisions. According to IGN, an unspecified number of specialists have been transferred to similar roles, though it’s unclear which games they are now working on. Some developers from Dragon Age: The Veilguard have also lost their positions, but they have the option to join other internal teams within Electronic Arts.

BioWare is now fully focused on the next installment of Mass Effect, which has moved past the concept stage. Gary McKay stated that these changes will make the studio more agile and focused. According to him, this will have a positive impact on the team’s future. There is still no estimated release window for the new Mass Effect. At the end of 2023, developers released a few small teasers, but they revealed very little.
