According to film insider Jordan Ruimy, Marvel is ultimately planning to resume production of the Blade film under the direction of a filmmaker known for the John Wick franchise. However, Ruimy emphasizes that rumors about Chad Stahelski's involvement in the project should be approached with caution and skepticism.

Stahelski himself has previously expressed interest in directing a film about the vampire hunter:

Out of all possible projects, I would jump at the chance to take on Blade. This story would resonate with me on a deep level.

The project has been stuck in so-called "development hell" since 2019, during which time it has gone through several directors and writers. According to Ruimy, the final version of the script, written by Michael Green and Eric Pearson, should already be complete, and the studio is now actively searching for a new director for the film.
