Thanks to a random coincidence, the long-lost pilot episode of Family Guy has been discovered online. Internet users found the episode in the personal portfolio of animator Robert Paulson.
According to Paulson’s LinkedIn profile, he was indeed one of the creators of the pilot episode. The video was uploaded to his personal website in 2022, but it wasn’t until over 30 months later that a user stumbled upon it. The episode has a runtime of 16 minutes, and while its plot is almost identical to the official first episode, the animation quality is significantly lower.
While half of this episode was a DVD bonus, people could only shrug when it came to the full length. While it might not be as famous and thrilling of a quest as finding the most mysterious song on the Internet, finding it without a doubt brought happiness to some folks online.
Family Guy is an animated sitcom that has been airing on Fox since 1999. The show currently has 23 seasons and over 430 episodes.
