Netflix continues to actively expand The Witcher franchise. Alongside its live-action series, the streaming service has unveiled the trailer for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.
Judging by the comments, fans are excited about the announcement of this animated movie for two main reasons. Geralt will be voiced by Doug Cockle, who did an outstanding job in games by CD Projekt RED. Also, the film adapts a fan favourite short story by Andrzej Sapkowski.
Geralt of Rivia is hired to take a deep look at a series of attacks in a coastal village. During his quest, he becomes entangled in an age-old conflict between humans and a sea-dwelling people. To uncover the truth and prevent a war, Geralt will have to rely on both old and new allies.
What might raise concerns about this announcement? The production is being handled by Studio Mir, known to fans of game adaptations as the creators of Dota: Dragon’s Blood. That series, to put it mildly, didn’t reach the level of Arcane. The Witcher movie has a stylistically similar look, which might unsettle some viewers.
On the plus side, the wait isn’t long. The premiere is scheduled for February 11.
