PC gamers have been eagerly awaiting a feature that makes sharing game content significantly easier. Steam game recording system, which has been in the beta version of the launcher since June, became available to all users on November 6.

The mode allows for continuous background recording of gameplay, with customizable limits for video duration and disk space usage. Users can also enable recording on demand or turn it off entirely.

This feature enables users to instantly review recorded footage, trim highlights from clips, and share them with friends or across personal devices. It’s supported in all games where the Steam overlay can be enabled and, what is also important, is working with the Steam Deck as well.

Valve assures that recording doesn’t reduce game performance, as it leverages the capabilities of GPU produced by NVIDIA and AMD. However, users with different chip manufacturers may experience a slight impact, as the central processor is used for recording in those cases.
