No matter how hard Valve tries to improve matchmaking in Counter-Strike 2, most high-skilled players still turn to third-party platforms for games. Today, one of those platforms, FaceIT, introduced its largest update, promising players a new experience. So, what’s changed?
First, the platform is focusing on fair play. This involves not only an update to the anti-cheat system but also a stronger fight against smurfing. Both automated systems and a dedicated team of people will be involved. The approach to smurfing enthusiasts is interesting: after a first offense, the platform will allow the player to choose their main account and continue playing on it. However, after a second offense, all accounts will be banned.
Another major change is the rework of the FPL (FaceIT Pro League), which is a separate league for top-tier players. FaceIT claims that almost $200,000 will be allocated for the new season, and the invite system will be updated. To be honest, there are some questions here, as the FPL hasn’t worked perfectly in the past. Much will depend on the execution.
Finally, there are a lot of nice updates, such as a revamped interface, a new statistics parser, an improved player matchmaking process, and a new club system. How successful these changes will be, we’ll find out over time.
