Mental health challenges are a serious issue in esports, with many top players affected in various ways. We recently wrote about Device missing the most important Counter-Strike 2 tournament of the season, and now there’s a significant development in League of Legends as well.

One of Europe’s most renowned players, Rekkles, who played for T1 Academy last year and was registered as a substitute for the roster that won Worlds 2024, is leaving the club and returning home.

In his message to fans, the Swedish player expressed his gratitude for the chance to play with T1. However, he shared that this past year, he hadn’t taken the steps needed to address his mental health issues. Rekkles revealed he had been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum and decided to return to Europe to focus on his future and sustain a longer professional career.

Rekkles also mentioned that he has already received an offer that would allow him to play the season from home. It seems we will soon learn which team has decided to bring him on board.
