On the final day of the Halo World Championship, 343 Industries shared details about the future of the team and the Halo series.

343i has rebranded to Halo Studios, marking what the developers call a "new chapter" in the franchise's history. The team aims to rethink its approach to developing Halo games. Currently, the studio is working on several Halo projects, all of which are being developed using Unreal Engine 5 instead of their proprietary Slipspace Engine.

Developers say that this transition will allow them to focus on the games, simplify the hiring process, and accelerate development and support with new content.

For the past two years, Halo Studios has been exploring the Unreal Engine through an internal initiative called Project Foundry. While this is not the working title for a new game, it’s also not just a tech demo. The team wanted to understand early on what they needed to incorporate into the next Halo game. The developers plan for all the insights and advancements from Project Foundry to eventually make their way into full-fledged games.

Halo Studios also mentioned that the next Halo game won’t be released soon, and fans shouldn’t expect frequent updates. The focus is on development rather than sharing future goals at this point. However, the studio reassured that support for Halo Infinite is ongoing, and they have opened several new job positions.
