Fans are beginning to create their own continuation of the story since there is currently no official sequel to Half-Life 2 Episode 3.
Recently we were reminded about another fan-made sequel of Half-Life 2. This time it was Pega_Xing who presented a demo of Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude.
The events of Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude unfold in the Arctic: Gordon Freeman wakes up after a helicopter crash, the hero is being hunted by the Alliance.
While players are studying the current demo version, work is underway on the update of the modification - it will not only continue the story, but also planned improvements of the first part (reworking of puzzles, improvement of flashlight mechanics, optimization of level design).
Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude demo is distributed for free via ModDB. Earlier this year the G-Man's voiceactor, Mike Shapiro, shared something on his X (previously Twitter) account for the first time since 2020. It was a mysterious teaser with the hashtags #HalfLife, #Valve, #GMan, and #2025 that promised "unexpected surprises."
Although Valve is capable of almost anything, it might be too optimistic to anticipate the game's actual release in 2025. But a statement? That seems completely believable. Dataminer Gabe Follower previously disclosed that a new Half-Life game had reportedly begun internal playtesting, based on his sources. The developers of Valve are apparently quite pleased with the outcome.
All of the hints that are currently available suggest that the game's development is well underway, and the creators seem committed to carrying on Gordon Freeman's story. The most thrilling aspect? Any time now, this announcement might be made. Unpredictability is a part of the excitement of Valve Time.
