The modding community has achieved a significant milestone by introducing a fully cooperative mode for Dark Souls Remastered. This groundbreaking modification, developed by modder Yui, allows players to experience the entirety of FromSoftware’s classic in seamless co-op gameplay.

If a player dies, they will respawn at the last bonfire they rested at without interrupting the session. The game continues uninterrupted, ensuring a smooth experience for all players involved. Defeating bosses or clearing areas no longer forces players to return to their own worlds, allowing teammates to stay together throughout the journey. All barriers that previously restricted multiplayer zones have been removed, creating a more cohesive and immersive cooperative experience.

NPC dialogues are now synchronized across all players, ensuring everyone shares the same narrative progression. When one player rests at a bonfire, the world state resets for the entire group, maintaining consistency in the game’s mechanics. The mod supports up to six players in an open-world setting, making exploration and combat more dynamic and collaborative.

The peer-to-peer connection system of Dark Souls has been overhauled using a new Steam networking API, improving stability and performance. Enemy scaling has been implemented for each foe, adjustable through the ds1sc_settings.ini file. Additionally, if enabled in the settings, other players can join the session as hostile spirits, attempting to invade and take down the group for an added layer of challenge.
