On June 22, Fortnite received an update that added items dedicated to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series. Some players mistakenly managed to purchase a special battle pass and obtain the Captain Jack Sparrow skin. Following this, Epic Games announced that the levels of the pass could not be upgraded until the official release date, which is set for July 19.

However, dataminers have already revealed almost all the content that will be available in Fortnite as part of the crossover: skins, gear, poses, and even the contents of the battle pass. The game will feature not only Captain Sparrow but also secondary characters—Elizabeth, Davy Jones, and Hector Barbossa.

On June 22-23, a special event featuring Metallica was held in Fortnite. Players completed several unique levels and listened to the band's songs.

Fortnite also introduced a new mode called "Reload". It is designed for 40 players, where squad members respawn after a certain time if they are eliminated. If the entire team is wiped out, they are out of the game.
