The Game Awards, a ceremony honoring the best games of the year, is set to take place in early December. The show has always been famous for its major announcements, rivaling the likes of E3 and Gamescom, but it seems that era is coming to an end. The organizer and host of the ceremony, Geoff Keighley, shared some not-so-pleasant news — there will be no more "world premieres" at The Game Awards.

During the stream, Geoff Keighley announced that The Game Awards will have a slightly different format this year. According to the host, there will be no unexpected announcements at the ceremony. Additionally, the show is abandoning the "world premiere" tag, which had become a meme of the event, shown before game trailers or announcements.

This means there will be significantly fewer exclusive announcements at The Game Awards 2023. All announcements will be dedicated to already revealed projects.

Various teams will present their trailers, from large studios with well-known franchises to small newcomers to the gaming industry.

Also, this year, viewers will not see the progress of the "real-time" audience voting by rounds. The organizers have decided to no longer experiment with this format, as last time, showing the voting leaders and percentage of votes on the website caused unnecessary "drama". Voting is set to start on November 27.

Furthermore, this time, Geoff Keighley's team is taking additional security measures to prevent situations where uninvited individuals come on stage.

The ceremony will be of standard duration: about two and a half hours for the main show with Geoff Keighley plus 30 minutes for the pre-show with Sydnee Goodman.

Keighley has already seen some trailers but not all yet — many studios are finalizing their materials for the ceremony until the last moment.
