The publisher Paradox Interactive is primarily known for releasing quality strategy games, but its portfolio also includes an unusual title — Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2. After the sequel to the cult RPG, it turns out the publisher does not plan to return to the series.

Deputy CEO Matthias Lilja revealed that Bloodlines 2 was nearly canceled, but the situation was saved by The Chinese Room, a studio that skillfully worked with Hard Suit’s original vision, whose gameplay recently leaked online.

However, creating games like Bloodlines sequels is not part of Paradox's future plans. Lilja believes the company lacks the necessary experience, but if the second part is successful, the license could go to third-party developers who may create a third installment.

It was mentioned that Paradox has a label called Paradox Arc, which focuses on experimental games. But even in this case, the publisher does not want to release a major RPG. Instead, it might concentrate on a more classic RPG. Despite this skeptical stance toward Bloodlines 2, the game will be supported with the standard set of updates and bug fixes. However, there are no plans for potential DLCs.

For Paradox, games that gather most of their audience only at release and don’t evolve over time are not considered appealing. The publisher’s strategy games are known for receiving expansions and new content for years.

Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 is set to release in the first half of 2025.
