After three years in development, incorporating player feedback, and addressing bugs, Longvinter has finally exited early access on Steam with the release of version 1.0. The developers announced the milestone, bringing a host of updates designed to refresh the experience for both newcomers and long-time fans.
The biggest addition in this update is the introduction of oil rigs across the archipelago. Players can now extract oil, refine it into fuel, and engage in battles against mercenaries from LRI who control supply lines. In addition to these mechanics, new events have been added, such as helicopter crashes that yield tactical gear and an underground arena where players can fight for valuable rewards every hour.
The game world has also become richer with new wildlife, including lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats, all of which can be tamed as mounts. The update includes a variety of new items, such as buff-providing hats, combat vests, weapons, explosives, kitchen recipes, and interactive objects for building and decorating, including oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Significant changes have also been made to weapon balance.
Looking ahead, the upcoming 1.1 update will introduce farming mechanics, a revamped tutorial for beginners, apartment rentals, and shared communities. Additionally, the developers confirmed that Longvinter will launch on PlayStation in 2026, expanding its reach beyond PC players.
