Tekken 8 was released in January this year and has continued receiving content updates. The latest addition is the playable character Heihachi Mishima. However, his introduction has caused recent user reviews on Steam to plummet to mostly negative.

The main issue lies in the developers' approach to monetization in Tekken 8. A themed stage that came along with Heihachi is sold for five dollars. This applies not only to regular players but also to those who own the season pass. Even the Ultimate Edition, priced at $110, does not grant access to all the content.

Recent reviews criticize the need to purchase the stage separately, but other issues have also emerged. Players complain about difficulties in finding opponents in online matches, simplified combo moves, and an uninspired storyline that reuses familiar plot elements from previous installments.

It’s worth noting that Tekken 8 has had controversial monetization decisions before. For example, when Lidia Sobieska was introduced, she came with a free stage, but now the situation has changed. Additionally, the fighting game features a store with cosmetic items that can be purchased with real money.
