Studio Movie Games has issued clarifications following a wave of review bombing on Steam targeting both installments of their Drug Dealer Simulator series. In reality, this information was known from the outset: first, an investigation into potential plagiarism in Schedule 1, and only if found in the game would the next step have been a lawsuit against studio TVGS.

However, judging by the community's reaction, many fans of Schedule 1 missed this nuance, forcing Movie Games to publicly clarify the situation:

  • The game has not received any legal claims and remains available
  • The investigation was launched based on complaints about similarities to Drug Dealer Simulator
  • As a public company, Movie Games is obligated to respond to such claims, otherwise it could "face consequences for inaction"

Special emphasis in the statement was placed on the fact that TVGS remains free to develop and sell Schedule 1, with the investigation initiated solely due to "similarity complaints". Yet, the investigation began immediately after the game's early access release, and it remains unclear who could have filed those complaints—other than Movie Games' own legal department.

In essence, the studio highlights the formal nature of the investigation, but players perceive it as an attempt to pressure a competitor.
