The National Research Group surveyed over a thousand gamers to find out which franchise adaptations they are most looking forward to and their opinions on the quality of existing ones.

Most of the responses were quite predictable, but there was a surprise— The Sims made it into the top 10. In addition to The Sims, players wish for movies or series based on Call of Duty, The Legend of Zelda, God of War, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Minecraft, Fortnite, Red Dead Redemption, and GTA.

Many of these series are already being adapted, so the studios likely chose them for good reasons. For example, Sony is working on a God of War series and The Legend of Zelda movie in collaboration with Nintendo. Warner Bros. Discovery is developing a Minecraft movie, Netflix is working on a series based on the same game, and Margot Robbie's company is handling the work on the famous life simulator adaptation.

72% of respondents are more motivated to replay the games after watching the corresponding video content. Additionally, 65% believe that movies and series based on games are excellent for introducing close people to their favourite franchises in an accessible format.

77% think the director and producers must like the original titles. Meanwhile, 59% of participants are disappointed when filmmakers adapt them without proper respect.
