For a long time, Mike Morhaime was synonymous with Blizzard’s success. However, after his departure, the company faced significant struggles. But what about Morhaime himself? He went on to found Dreamhaven, and today, the company has unveiled its first project: the space shooter Wildgate.
This first-person, team-based PvP shooter combines resource gathering, tactical spaceship battles, crew extraction, and more in a thrilling space adventure.
In Wildgate, up to five teams (four players each) compete to secure an artifact. The goal is to find it and escape through a space gate—or eliminate enemy ships. Players can upgrade their ships, explore wreckage, and collect resources. If a character dies, they respawn on the ship, but if the ship is destroyed, the entire team is eliminated. The game features a procedurally generated map, ensuring each match feels unique.
The first public playtest will take place from April 10 to April 14, 2025. Players can register on the official website to participate.
