Microsoft removed the option to purchase a 14-day trial of the Xbox Game Pass for $1 on October 8, though the change was only recently noticed online.

The company made this move shortly before the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 — likely not wanting players to complete the campaign of the new title without paying for a full month of the subscription.

Initially, the trial allowed users to access the subscription for 30 days, but in March of last year, Microsoft changed the terms and shortened the trial period to 14 days. A similar temporary removal of the Game Pass trial was observed before the release of Starfield, making the current development unsurprising.

Previously, it was reported that there are concerns within the company about the effectiveness of including new Call of Duty entries in Game Pass on release day. Some feared that such a decision could negatively impact the franchise's high revenues.

Amid these concerns, the removal of the trial period seems like a logical step, as many would likely have opted for this trial option to experience the new Call of Duty installment.
