Let's be honest: the past few years have spoiled us with excellent video game movie adaptations. The most important thing is that, in many cases, we see a respectful approach to the original, even in something as niche as the Twisted Metal TV series.

And then the Until Dawn trailer drops. And people are confused. Because despite the name, the film is almost entirely unrelated to the original game: it has a different plot and key concept. The only thing they share is their connection to the slasher genre.

People in the comments joke that this game is much more similar to Dead by Daylight. Some simply note that this film could have been an excellent horror movie with any other name, but as a game adaptation, it just doesn't work.

The movie will tell the story of a group of young people searching for their missing friend who disappeared a year ago. When they arrive at the place where she was last seen, they find themselves trapped in a time loop—every night, different monsters kill them. The premiere will take place on April 25.
