Ubisoft keeps doing active moves to get itself out of the crisis. Star Wars Outlaws was not successful enough, so the company changed the creative director.

Drew Rechner, who has been with Massive Entertainment for over 10 years, replaced Julian Gerighty just over two months after the action game’s release. Gerighty, in turn, has moved on to work on The Division 3.

This substitution means that Ubisoft is not going to abandon its action-adventure game, and the developers plan to focus particularly on refining the combat system, stealth mechanics, and overall character control. They aim to make the combat system more nuanced to better reward tactical play, which they believe will enhance the overall gameplay experience.

The exact details of such improvements will be shared soon, with a patch set to release on November 21. This update coincides with the game’s release on Steam and the launch of its first story expansion, titled Wild Card.

Three major patches have already been released for Star Wars Outlaws, which have improved enemy AI, stealth mechanics, and speeder handling, among other elements. The game has not met Ubisoft's initial expectations, and the company hopes that the post-release support and Steam launch will help turn things around.
