Netflix held its traditional Geeked Week event, sharing updates on anime adaptations of several popular games.
The streaming service announced another Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation but did not reveal many details. Netflix Animation will collaborate with CD Projekt Red on the project.
Netflix only showed a 20-second teaser without footage from the adaptation, so it's unclear whether it will be connected to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. A concern is that Edgerunners' success was largely due to Studio TRIGGER's memorable style, but there is no information about who will be producing this new adaptation.
Netflix and Ubisoft are also working on an anime adaptation of the Splinter Cell spy series, with an older Sam Fisher voiced by actor Liev Schreiber (known for the show Ray Donovan).
Additionally, Netflix is developing an animated series based on the card game Magic: The Gathering. The showrunner is Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard), though no other details have been shared yet.
The first trailer for the Devil May Cry anime adaptation was also shown, with the series set to release in April 2025. Dante will be voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, known for his role as Nero in the games. The anime is being produced by Studio Mir.
Finally, Netflix also reminded viewers that the Tomb Raider anime, set after the recent video game trilogy, will be released on October 10 and showed a new trailer.
Let's hope all of these projects will be great.
