Qualcomm is considering acquiring some of Intel's chip development assets, according to a report by Reuters citing two sources. Qualcomm is exploring options to purchase various parts of Intel's business, including the desktop and mobile processor divisions. However, the company has not yet made any official offers or reached out to Intel. Qualcomm's executives have no concrete plans for a potential deal at this time.

Intel is reportedly facing financial difficulties, which have led the company to seek the sale of certain divisions, according to Reuters. This indicates that Intel may be open to selling some of its assets.

In response to journalists' inquiries, an Intel representative stated that the company remains deeply committed to its PC business. Qualcomm declined to comment.

Intel is currently in a severe financial crisis. To address it, the company previously introduced a global plan to reduce expenses by over $10 billion. This includes cutting more than 15,000 jobs — approximately 15% of the workforce.

Intel reported a net loss of $1.61 billion in the second quarter of 2024, with its executives admitting that the financial results are disappointing. In contrast, Qualcomm recorded a net profit of $2.3 billion in the second quarter of 2024, an increase of 36.5% compared to the same period last year.
