Usually, the developers of fighting games leave the end of the competitive season to the beginning of the year. However, Tekken World Tour brought a more traditional approach with the final tournament occurring in Japan in December.
What was not traditional is the new and interesting format of the event. Twenty best players of the Global Leaderboard were competing for eight spots in the upper bracket. Fifteen best players of the Regional Leaderboards were competing for six places in the lower bracket. And two last places in the lower bracket were left for the winners of the Last Chance Qualifier in which already eliminated players can take part!
Interestingly, no eliminated players got the second chance, but the LCQ winner EDGE managed to climb up to the fourth place. On his lower bracket run, he defeated the heavy favourite of the tournament, Arslan Ash. However, Pakistan was still represented in the grand finals. ATIF faced Rangchu. Both of them previously won the Tekken World Tour: the Pakistani player was triumphant in the 2022 season, while the South Korean fighter did the same in 2018.
In the end, Rangchu was stronger, and here comes the fun fact: in 2018 he won by playing Panda. This year, his main character was Kuma, another big bear. The character is different but passion stays the same.
The Tekken Project team also presented a teaser for the upcoming Season 2, but for now the main event will be The Game Awards where the new Tekken 8 character will be revealed.
