The playoffs of IEM Katowice were quite a spectacle. The main event in Spodek Arena had the vibe of a wrestling show. There was one definite heel which was booed for most of its matches. We're talking about the defending champion, Team Spirit. Last year they won the tournament in a dominant fashion, sweeping out the FaZe Clan. 

So it seems quite appropriate that to become a hero you need to slay the almighty Dragon. And even more appropriate to the storyline is the recent transfer of ropz to Team Vitality. The French team decided to repeat the dominance of Team Spirit-2024 and started the year with the clean sweep in the grand finals. Ropz got his revenge, and apEX lifted the IEM Katowice trophy, the one he dreamed of for a long time.

IEM Katowice 2025 prize pool distribution among best six teams:

  • 1st place - Team Vitality - $400 000
  • 2nd place - Team Spirit - $180 000
  • 3rd place - NAVI, The MongolZ - $80 000 each
  • 5th place - Eternal Fire, Virtus.pro - $40 000 each

The next big tournament starts next Friday. PGL Cluj-Napoca offers a prize pool of $1,250,000 to those who agreed to take part in it and come to Romania.
