The role-playing game Dragon's Dogma 2 is set to release soon, and it has already been tested on various computers and the portable Steam Deck console. The results were surprising. According to the author from TouchArcade, even with minimal graphics settings and a resolution of 720p, the frame rate in the open world barely exceeds 10 FPS.
Attempts to improve performance, such as enabling FSR in ultra-performance mode and manually increasing the GPU clock speed to 1600 MHz, only allowed for an increase to 15–18 FPS outside of combat. However, the average frame rate still remained at around 10. The game is practically unplayable on the Steam Deck console.
The reviewer spent nearly 40 hours playing through Dragon's Dogma 2. He said that the game itself is very engaging and captivating, but it's unlikely that one will be able to enjoy it on the Steam Deck. He recommends running the RPG on other devices if the developers are unable to significantly improve performance in the release version.
Dragon's Dogma 2 was tested on PC before release, and there are also reviews from the press, with an impressive average score of 89 out of 100. It remains to be hoped that the game's creators will be able to optimize the game for a comfortable playthrough on Valve's portable console.
