With the success of Denis Villeneuve’s films, the upcoming release of the survival MMO Dune: Awakening is drawing a lot of attention. Fortunately, the wait won’t be long, as developer Funcom has announced the official PC release date—May 20. Console versions will follow later, but for now, we can all check out the latest gameplay trailer.

What do we see in it? The desert, base-building, combat sequences, and of course, sandworms—pretty much everything you’d expect from a Dune game.

The protagonist of Dune: Awakening is a prisoner sent to the planet Arrakis. His journey begins with escaping captivity and embarking on a dangerous quest to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of the Fremen.

To ensure PC players are ready for launch, Funcom has already released a benchmark tool and a character creator. This allows players to fine-tune their settings and design their characters in advance, saving time when the game officially drops.
