At the State of Play event, Ghost of Yotei, a new game from the creators of Ghost of Tsushima at Sucker Punch Productions, was announced.

Players will take on the role of a young woman named Atsu. In 1603 (over 300 years after the events of the first game), she embarks on an adventure through dangerous lands filled with meadows and snowy tundras. Sucker Punch did not go into much detail about Ghost of Yotei's plot but teased that players will experience a story of an "outsider hero" and "revenge."

The developers mentioned that they aimed to preserve the key principles from Ghost of Tsushima: playing as a wandering warrior in Japan, appreciating the beautiful landscapes, and exploring the world at one's own pace.

The setting inspiration came from two research trips Sucker Punch made to northern Japan. The team was deeply impressed by Mount Yotei, reflected in Lake Toya, as well as Shiretoko National Park in Hokkaido. In her journey, Atsu will traverse vast meadows, snowy tundras, and other picturesque landscapes. Players will have greater control over the heroine's story compared to Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghost of Yotei is planned to launch in 2025 exclusively on PlayStation 5.
