If Season 5 doesn't do well, it might be the final season. AusilMV, an insider with a reputation for game leaks, reported this.

According to him, a reliable source said that Season 5 is a last-ditch effort to save the game. It's only a rumor for now, but the situation looks alarming.

At launch in 2022, the game had explosive success with 153,000 players at its peak on Steam. But soon online collapsed by 99%, and Warner Bros. Games decided to shut down the project in June 2023, declaring it an “open beta test.” In May 2024, the game returned with updates, but was never able to regain its former popularity.

The fifth season of MultiVersus starts in early February, and may be the developers' last chance to regain players' interest. 

In essence, this MultiVersus is a relaunch, but the developers chose to refer to the initial 2022 release as a "beta." Although players embraced the game at the time, the developers revealed in March 2023 that it would be temporarily shut down in June of the same year. Many players were unhappy about this, especially those who had bought the premium edition to help the developers.
