Developer Funcom has officially announced the largest beta testing phase yet for Dune: Awakening, its MMO survival game set in the Dune universe. The massive test will take place between May 9 and May 12, offering players a significant preview of the experience.

After several months of closed, NDA-protected testing phases, Funcom is now prepared to allow players access to approximately 20 hours of gameplay content, including much of the first narrative act. Unlike previous testing rounds, this beta weekend will not be subject to a nondisclosure agreement, meaning participants are free to share gameplay footage and stream their experiences.

According to Funcom, "tens of thousands" of new players will be admitted into the test, gaining access to the majority of the first story chapter. Players can already request access via Steam or obtain beta keys during Twitch livestreams on May 10.

This open beta marks a key step ahead of Dune: Awakening's official launch scheduled for June 10 on Steam. PC players who purchase the Deluxe edition will be able to start exploring the vast deserts five days earlier, on June 5. Release dates for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles have not yet been announced.
