Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 received a new patch, version 4.1. The update has already gone live. As promised by the developers, this update is aimed at rolling back some of the significant changes from the recent update, which introduced a new mission in Operations mode. For example, with this new patch, the enemy spawn rates for the first three difficulty levels have been returned to their version 4.0 levels.

On the Ruthless difficulty, enemy spawn rates have simply been reduced. Additionally, player armor on this difficulty is now 10% stronger. With these changes, the developers aim to balance the difficulty between the launch version and the changes introduced in patch 3.0. Significant balance adjustments were made not only to the difficulty of Operations mode but also to the weapons available in it.

For instance, the damage of the heavy bolter in co-op operations has been increased by 5%, and the damage of the automatic bolt rifle by a full 20%. Various damage increases were applied to other weapons as well, though these changes do not affect the campaign mode. Additionally, the Tight Formation system has been removed from Operations, and bots now deal 30% more damage to bosses.

Bug fixes and error corrections were also included. The full list of changes can be found on the game's page.

The rollback of changes was prompted by player criticism and statistical analysis. It was revealed that even on lower difficulty levels, the success rate in Operations had dropped — this disrupted the original game design of Space Marine 2, where players are meant to feel like powerful Space Marines.
