The lead developer of the Ryujinx emulator, known as GDKChan, has started to shut down the project. As of October 1, the program's repository on GitHub became inaccessible, the download option was removed from the official website, and updates have ceased.

Shortly after, another developer, using the nickname "rip in peri peri," commented on the situation in the emulator's Discord channel. They stated that Nintendo had approached GDKChan with a request to cancel all the work and delete related data. It appears that GDKChan agreed to comply.

The developer noted that it is not finally confirmed if GDKChan officially accepted Nintendo's conditions. However, the removal of the GitHub page and other recent changes strongly suggest that the project is indeed stopping its existence. The specific demands from Nintendo remain unknown at this time.

Ryujinx was among the biggest Nintendo Switch emulators, with its development spanning around seven years and contributions from dozens of people.

In March 2024, Nintendo demanded the closure of another emulator, Yuzu. Its creators agreed to pay a $2.4 million fine as compensation for damages.
