It looks like Netflix has found a niche they really like. We talk about animated series based on video games. Arcane, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and now Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Less than a month passed since its premiere, and now the streaming platform announced it renewed the adventures of one of the most iconic female characters in the history of video games to the second season.

In the upcoming episodes, the iconic tomb raider will team up with Samantha, a character who first appeared in Tomb Raider (2013) and a number of comics. Together, they’ll retrieve valuable artifacts.

Tasha Huo will come back as showrunner. Tasha shared that in the second season, Lara Croft will encounter new allies, transforming from an isolated lone wolf into a heroine who realizes she has a cool team backing her up.

The first season premiered earlier this month, earning a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics. However, viewers weren’t as enthusiastic, giving it only a 32% rating. Many criticized the “boring” main character and the exploration of emotional issues, which they felt didn’t align with the franchise's spirit.

Unfortunately, during its debut week (October 7-13), the animated series didn’t make it into Netflix’s top 10 most-watched shows.
