Showrunner and screenwriter Ronald D. Moore confirmed that Amazon has ordered two seasons of the God of War adaptation. He replaced Rafe Judkins (known for the series The Wheel of Time), who left the project in 2024. According to rumors, his departure was due to creative differences, prompting Sony and Amazon to restart development from scratch.
Moore, famous for projects likeĀ "Battlestar Galactica"Ā andĀ "For All Mankind", admitted that he is not a gamer himself but was intrigued by the idea of adapting the iconic game. Interestingly, Ronald himself never managed to complete the original game, citing "difficult controls" as the reason.
The series' plot will be based on the 2018 reboot of God of War. The focus will be on the relationship between Kratos and his son Atreus, with the story unfolding "against the backdrop of vast and epic landscapes". The exact release date has not yet been announced, but the project is already in active development.
