Tekken 8 has received patch 2.01, which adjusted character balance, improved the ranked match system, and updated the in-game store. However, the main highlight was the changes to the "Ghost Battles" mode.

Players can now disable AI learning or reset its progress. A new TEKKEN GHOST SHOWDOWN mode has also been added, allowing for real-time automated battles between ghosts.

In Tekken 8, a ghost is an AI avatar that mimics a player's fighting style and evolves based on their tactics.

Additionally, the developers have introduced five unique ghosts. Defeating them unlocks exclusive customization items. More such opponents are promised to be added in the future.

It's also worth noting that the previous balance team has returned for Tekken 8's second season. A month after the season's launch, game director Harada confirmed the reshuffle: all changes to the combat system are now once again overseen by Nakatsu—the lead balance director for Tag 2 and the 7th installment. This decision came after controversial updates that were meant to improve the game but ultimately made it worse.
