Gamers began to notice The Blood of Dawnwalker and began drawing comparisons to The Witcher 4. The project was created by former CDPR staff members, as evidenced by the ambiance and style similarities.
After the release of the first trailer, fans began to actively discuss which of the games will be more successful. But the developers themselves and their former colleagues are sure that such comparisons are inappropriate. One of the X users noted:
“Dawnwalker looks amazing, just like The Witcher 4. Both works can exist together. One game doesn't mean the other is dead. It's not a competition. Let's show respect.”
Patrick K. Mills, who worked on the missions for The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, joined the discussion. He emphasized that there is no rivalry between the teams:
“Anyone who tries to compare these games is doing the devil's work. The teams have a long history together, we hang out together, we play games together, our group chats are full of praise for each team. There's nothing but love here. The culture war will remain a culture war, but these games share a common origin and common values.”
Philippe Weber, The Witcher 4's narrative director also noted that the trailers for the two games have similar visual elements.
“Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz and I were joking today about how the eyes in the dark in our two trailers were used as references to the TV series Midnight Mass to sell the idea early on. Many of the creators of the two games are friends, and we love seeing our friends succeed!”
Rebel Wolves has set itself an ambitious task - to create a new series of games capable of competing with well-known franchises. Judging by the first trailer, The Blood of Dawnwalker has a chance to become no less impressive project than CDPR's works.
