While many Valve game fans eagerly await the 20th anniversary of Half-Life 2, fans from Icebreaker Industries decided to offer their own gift. Project Borealis: Prologue now has a release date and a final trailer.

At the end of the video, we see the date 11.11.2024, which means players will explore Ravenholm, recreated in Unreal Engine 5, as soon as this Monday. According to the system requirements, Project Borealis will take up 6 GB on the hard drive but will be more demanding on the CPU — requiring a Ryzen 1600 or Core i5-8500 as minimum.

To recap, Project Borealis originated after Marc Laidlaw, who worked on the Half-Life series, published a story strikingly similar to what Half-Life 2: Episode Three might have been, had it ever been released. Interestingly, the enthusiasts decided to bring the game to life on Unreal Engine 5 and not on Valve's own engines. Meanwhile, there are more and more hints that Valve is actively working on the next Half-Life game, but we've yet to hear any announcements.
